The United Nations

The United Nations was an idea created by Roosevelt in a hope to prevent another world war from breaking out. So, in 1944 at the Dumbarton Oaks estate, delegates from 39 countries met to collaborate about the new organization. It was agreed that the UN would have every member nation in the world have one vote. There would also be a Security Council with 11 members. On April 25, 1945, representatives from fifty countries went to San Francisco to officially organize the UN and design its constitution.
